Auto Scrolling - Documentation

1. Overview

Auto Scrolling is a convenience feature integrated across SonicSyncSail’s large scrollable lists. It enables hands-free vertical scrolling using a bottom-mounted slider that converts slider positions into continuous upward or downward motion.

This feature is especially useful for long playlists, extensive vaults, large queues, and bulk selection flows where traditional manual scrolling becomes inefficient.

2. Visibility Rules

To maintain interface clarity, the Auto Scroll slider is only shown when the list contains more than:

→ 45 items

This threshold ensures that auto scrolling appears only when it genuinely improves usability. Lists shorter than this threshold do not expose the slider, and users navigate them with normal swipe gestures.

3. Slider Range & Scroll Behavior

The slider range is standardized across the app:

→ –1.0 to +1.0

3.1 Downward Scrolling (Negative Range)

• Values from –0.16 to –1.0 scroll the list downward.
• The closer to –1.0, the faster the scroll speed.

3.2 Upward Scrolling (Positive Range)

• Values from +0.16 to +1.0 scroll the list upward.
• The closer to +1.0, the faster the scroll speed.

3.3 Neutral Zone

Values between –0.15 and +0.15 represent a dead zone where auto scrolling is stopped. This prevents accidental activation and creates predictable user control.

4. Auto-Hide Logic

Auto scrolling stops automatically upon reaching the top or bottom boundaries of the list. When this happens:

• The slider resets its value to 0
• Auto scrolling halts instantly
• The scroll controls auto-hide

This ensures the interface remains clean and prevents continuous scrolling into empty space.

5. Multi-Select Mode Behavior

One of SonicSyncSail’s unique advantages is its fully interactive auto scrolling while in multi-select mode. Even as the list scrolls automatically:

• Users may tap items freely
• Selections and unselections register instantly
• No gesture blocking or pauses occur
• Scroll movement does not interrupt list interaction

This provides a highly efficient way to manage playlists, queue curation, or segment selection across long lists.

6. Stopping Auto Scrolling

To stop auto scrolling, users perform a small manual swipe in any direction. SonicSyncSail interprets this as a switch from automated motion to manual control.

• Auto scroll stops immediately
• The slider resets to 0
• Manual scrolling resumes normally

7. List Compatibility

Auto Scrolling is supported across all major long-scroll lists including:

• Dynamic Queue
• Playlist Details
• RemixList Details
• PulseVault segment lists
• TuneVault lists
• Selection screens
• Multi-select add screens

The system never interferes with drag handles, swipe-to-remove gestures, or item-level interactions.

8. Edge Cases & Safeguards

• Slider remains hidden for lists with 45 items or fewer.
• Auto scroll cannot force movement beyond list boundaries.
• Manual gestures always override automatic motion.
• Multi-select behavior is fully compatible with scrolling motion.
• Auto scrolling stops when a new view or mode is opened.

9. Known Limitations

• No speed curve customization by users.
• No variable acceleration beyond linear scaling.
• Auto scroll slider unavailable in small or embedded lists.
