📄 Privacy Policy for SonicSyncSail

Effective Date: 2026-02-03

📌 1. Overview

SonicSyncSail is an offline-first music and video player that supports local playback, online radio streaming, optional internal audio recording, waveform visualization, tag editing with album-art updates, subscription-based premium features, and secure media sharing through Android’s native share interface. All transfers occur via the operating system’s own mechanisms; the app itself does not create or maintain separate Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections.

📥 2. Information We Access or Collect

  • Device-Stored Media and Metadata: Titles, artists, albums, genres, duration, artwork, and file paths of audio and video files stored on your device are read to build and display your media library. These files never leave your device.
  • Tag Editing and Artwork Updates: When you choose to edit song information or change album art, SonicSyncSail modifies that file’s metadata locally using the WRITE_MEDIA_AUDIO permission (or legacy equivalents on older devices). No copies of your files or images are uploaded or transmitted.
  • Audio Recording (Optional): When enabled, the app records only audio streamed by SonicSyncSail (for example, from online radio). Recordings are stored locally under Music/SonicSyncSail/Recordings and are never uploaded or shared without your explicit intent.
  • User Preferences and Playback State: Stored in a local Room database to remember playback position, volume, and favorite lists. Never transmitted externally.
  • Bluetooth and Headset Events: The app may read the connected device name via the system AudioManager to display the current output source and resume playback when you reconnect. No audio data or identifiers are collected.
  • File Sharing via Android OS: When you share a song or recording, SonicSyncSail uses Android’s built-in sharing system (Intent.ACTION_SEND). The operating system handles the transfer through the app you choose (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct, or messaging apps). SonicSyncSail does not manage connections, collect recipient details, or transmit data beyond delegating to the OS service.
  • Crash and Analytics Data: Collected via Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to improve stability and performance. Anonymous crash data is collected through Firebase Crashlytics to help identify and resolve technical issues. Reports include only crash stack traces, device model, and Android version—never personal data, recorded audio, or media files.
  • SonicSyncSail automatically collects anonymous crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics to improve reliability. These reports contain no personal data and cannot identify individual users.
  • Advertising and Subscriptions: SonicSyncSail displays only non-personalized advertisements through Google AdMob. These ads are based solely on general context such as app category, language, or region. No behavioral profiling or user tracking occurs. Google Play Billing is used for subscriptions, and all payment processing is handled securely by Google; SonicSyncSail never receives or stores payment credentials.

🎯 3. How We Use the Information

  • To organize and display your local media library
  • To let you edit audio tags and artwork locally
  • To manage playback, equalizer, and visualization features
  • To enable optional radio streaming and recording
  • To provide diagnostics and improve performance
  • To display non-personalized ads and handle subscriptions via Google Play

🔒 4. Data Security

All audio, video, and recordings remain stored on your device. Communication with Firebase, AdMob, and Play Billing is encrypted through HTTPS. SonicSyncSail performs no background uploads or hidden data transfers.

🤝 5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

SonicSyncSail does not sell, rent, or trade user data. The following trusted services are integrated to support functionality:

  • Google Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: for anonymized diagnostics
  • Google AdMob: to serve in-app advertisements
  • Google Play Billing: for secure subscription handling
  • Public Radio Streams: played directly from their servers; their own policies may apply

🔧 6. User Controls

  • Grant or revoke media and microphone permissions anytime in Android Settings
  • Delete or modify recordings and edited songs in your Music folder
  • SonicSyncSail shows only non-personalized ads. No ad tracking or behavioral targeting is performed, and no advertising identifiers are stored beyond what is required for basic ad delivery.

🗑 6.1 Data Deletion

SonicSyncSail provides users with clear instructions to request deletion of any data that the app can access or control. Details are available on our Data Deletion Request page.

SonicSyncSail does not operate, own, or maintain any servers, does not support user accounts, and does not store user data on developer-controlled backend systems. All app-related data is stored locally on the user’s device or handled directly by Google’s services.

The Data Deletion Request page explains:

  • How users can submit a data deletion request by email
  • What types of locally stored app data may exist, including preferences, playback history, optional recordings, and edited media metadata
  • What happens after a request is submitted and why remote deletion is not possible
  • How users can delete all local SonicSyncSail data immediately by uninstalling the app, clearing app storage, or manually removing files
  • How to manage or request deletion of anonymous data collected by Google Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Google AdMob, and Google Play Billing

Because all SonicSyncSail app data is stored locally on the device, SonicSyncSail cannot delete this data remotely. Users retain full control and may delete all local data at any time using Android system tools.

🧒 7. Children’s Privacy

SonicSyncSail is not designed for children under 13, and no personal information is knowingly collected from minors.

🌍 8. International Users

Most processing occurs locally on your device. Limited diagnostic, analytics, and advertising-related data may be transmitted securely to Google servers through Google Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Google AdMob, and Google Play services, as required for app functionality.

SonicSyncSail does not operate or maintain any servers and does not receive or store this data. Information about how users can manage or request deletion of locally stored app data and third-party data handled by Google is provided in the Data Deletion section of this Privacy Policy.
