1. Overview

SonicSyncSail features two distinct list systems—Playlists and RemixLists. While both provide curated collections, they serve different listening purposes:

• Playlist (TuneVault) — stores full songs for traditional playback.
• RemixList (PulseVault) — stores Pulse Segments for emotional remixing.

Shared properties across both list types:

• Up to 100 items per list
• No duplicate items allowed
• Drag-and-drop reordering
• Multi-select actions
• Unified creation flow
• Editable list names (with restrictions)

2. Purpose & User Value

Playlists offer a structured and familiar way to organize full-length songs, while RemixLists introduce a new emotional curation method unique to SonicSyncSail. Together, they enable users to curate both traditional listening sessions and advanced emotional mixes.

Playlists enable users to:

• Group meaningful songs
• Create custom listening flows
• Replay themed collections
• Control queue behavior

RemixLists enable users to:

• Combine emotional Pulse Segments from different songs
• Build mixes for PulseSync
• Enable/disable segments dynamically
• Create fully personalized emotional sessions

3. Access Locations

• Playlists are accessed through TuneVault.
• RemixLists are accessed through PulseVault.
• Both screens include:
  • “+” button to create lists
  • Long-press multi-select mode
  • User-created lists and system-defined lists

4. Creating a Playlist or RemixList

4.1 Steps

1. Navigate to TuneVault (Playlists) or PulseVault (RemixLists).
2. Tap the + icon.
3. A dialog appears requesting a list name.
4. System validates:
   • Name is unique
   • Length ≤ 70 characters
5. When valid, Create becomes enabled.

4.2 Item Selection Screen

• Playlist → shows songs
• RemixList → shows Pulse Segments
• Multi-select mode
• Done enabled only when:
  • 1–100 items selected
• Selected items added → details screen opens

• List title
• Pen icon → edit mode
• “+” icon → add items
• Draggable reorder support
• Item count

6. Edit Mode

6.1 Shared Actions

• Swipe to delete individual items
• Multi-select mode enables:
  • Play
  • Delete
• Rename list (top-right rename button)

6.2 Playlist Actions

Standard music control operations:

• Play selected items
• Delete selected items
• No enable/disable logic

6.3 RemixList Actions

• Play — plays selected Pulse Segments
• Enable — segment becomes visible to PulseMixer
• Disable — hides segment from PulseMixer
• Delete

7. Adding Items After Creation

Pressing the + icon reopens the selection screen.

• Selection rules remain the same (1–100 items)
• Items are appended to the end
• Duplicates are automatically filtered

8. Multi-Select Mode (Root List Screen)

8.1 Playlist Actions

• Play
• Rename (only when 1 list selected)
• Merge (enabled for ≥2 lists)
• Share (when combined item count < 50)
• Delete

8.2 Merge Logic

• User chooses the target playlist via dialog radio buttons
• All other selected lists merge into target
• Max 100 items enforced
• Extra items skipped silently
• Non-target selected lists are deleted automatically

8.3 Share Rules

• Only enabled when total items aggregate to < 50
• Triggers Android share intent

8.4 RemixList Actions

• Play
• Rename
• Enable segments
• Disable segments
• Delete

9. Playback Rules

9.1 Playlist Playback

• Play full list
• Enqueue full list
• Order preserved unless shuffle is active

9.2 RemixList Playback

• Can only Play (no enqueue)
• Order preserved unless shuffle is active

9.3 Interaction with Dynamic Queue Modes

• If Shuffle = ON → playlist order overridden
• When Repeat/Repeat One restored → list order returns

Playback context remains stable across app screens.

10. System Playlists

• Favourites — user-starred songs
• Most Played — sorted by playback frequency
• Recently Played — recent history
• Hidden Songs — user-hidden songs (with unhide option)

These lists have immutable names and cannot be deleted.

11. Edge Cases & Safeguards

• Max 100 items per list enforced
• No duplicate items allowed
• Share disabled for 50+ items
• Merge result trimmed to 100 items
• Disabled Pulse Segments hidden from PulseMixer
• Hidden songs excluded from creation screens
• Rename disabled if unchanged or blank

12. Known Limitations

• RemixLists cannot enqueue
• No nested lists or folders
• No undo for merge operations
• Share limited to 50 items
• RemixLists can only contain Pulse Segments
